Protective Midsole

The use of pierce resistant midsoles protects you when you step on a blunt or sharp object on your work site.

A pierce-resistant midsole can resist a static penetration force of 1100 Newton, which is equivalent to the force generated by an 80 kg person walking and placing their foot on a nail with a blunt tip 4.5 mm in diameter.

Two types of midsoles are used for personal protective equipment:

- Midsoles made of high tenacity composite fabric: these have the advantage of being flexible and lightweight. As they are non-metallic, they are non-magnetic.

Composite fabric is a material known for its thermal insulation powers; it does not conduct heat and cold. It covers 100% of the surface of the foot as it is sewn in when the upper is assembled;

- Stainless steel midsoles: these are stronger, but less flexible.

Steel midsole :

Made from coated steel or stainless steel.

More economic compared to composite material .

Thinner than than composite.

Embedded in the outsole construction ,not visible when taking out the comfort insole .

Conducting cold ,heat and electricity.

Recommended for protection against very sharp and tiny objects.

Less flexible than composite midsole ,due to the characteristic of metal

Not protecting the full bottom surface of the footwear ,few mm stay unprotected at the sides.

Subject to corrosion after a period of time ,when made in coated carbon steel ,especially at the flexing area .

 

 

 Composite Midplate:

Made from Aramid fibers like kevlar or Twaron .

More flexible compared to steel midsoles .

Less heavy than steel midsoles .

Sewn onto the puncture resistant boots upper construction ,visible when removing the comport insole .

Not conducting cold ,heat and electricity .

Recommended for people working in metal scanning environments .

More Comfort due to technical evolution towards thinner ,more lightweight materials .

Protecting the full bottom surface of the shoe.

Combined very high strength to weight properties ,with excellent temperature ,abrasion and cut resistances values .
